Sid Harveys in Marquette, Michigan recently held a ProTech Systems (PTS) Venting Seminar. Bill Tosh (J.W. Sales Inc.) brought Kevin Sponable (PTS Manufacturer's Sales Representative) to Marquette. Kevin is the Regional Sales Manager for PTS and he put on a great seminar that was truly informative.

After 23 years in the vent manufacturing business, Martin Wawrla has achieved his dream.

Wawrla's ProTech Systems Inc., of Albany, has been acquired for $7.5 million by a subsidiary of California-based Simpson Manufacturing Co. Inc. (NYSE: SSD). An additional $2.25 million is on the table if the company meets future performance standards.

On Thursday, Simpson Manufacturing officials made presentations to the 65 employees at ProTech Systems, all of whom will remain on staff. Three more workers will be hired by August, and an extra 15 to 20 employees will be hired by March 2009, Wawrla said.

"It's a perfect match," Wawrla said. "They needed me, and I needed them. Now, we get to play in a bigger pond."

Wawrla will serve as vice president of the ProTech division of Simpson Dura-Vent Co. Inc., the firm that purchased ProTech Systems. Wawrla said ProTech Systems' ventilation system products will help Simpson Dura-Vent tap into the heating, ventilation and air conditioning sector.
