UL Listing

What is a UL listing?

UL Listed UL stands for Underwriters Laboratory. It is the leading independent organization responsible for setting safety standards and testing for a wide range of industries and appliances. If an appliance or device has a UL listing, it means it has been tested to UL standards as they apply to a particular industry or application and it has passed. The tests are stringent and rigorous in order to assure that only safe and reliable products receive the UL listing. A UL listing informs the consumer that the product he is buying has been suitably tested and found acceptable for the application for which it was intended.

TESTING AND LISTING SPECIFICATIONS FOR VENTINOX® LINING SYSTEMS

All Ventinox® products have been tested and are listed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to UL and ULC standards.

Applicable UL tests address the following areas: vent systems draft, thermal performance, thermal shock, strength and loading, torsion, creosote burnout, abrasion, corrosion resistance and freeze/thaw, leak tests, etc. All systems components must meet the performance criteria specified by the applicable test standards in addition to various construction and installation requirements intended to insure proper product performance.

A UL listing requires ongoing quality assurance inspections by UL at our manufacturing facilities located in Cumming, Georgia and Albany, New York. Ventinox® components are marked with a listing label in compliance with applicable standards.

Ventinox®HiFlex and Ventinox®VFT were tested and are listed by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. to UL 1777 and ULC-S635-M90 for all fuels and at zero clearance to combustibles. File numbers MH11476 and 92NK5444.

Ventinox®VG was tested and is listed by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. to UL 1777 for gas applications and at zero clearance to combustibles. File number MH11476. Ventinox®VG was also tested and is listed by Underwriters Laboratories of Canada to ULC-S635M. File number CHM1356.

Ventinox®Direct Connect Kits have been tested and are listed by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. to UL907, the "Standard for Fireplace Accessories". File number MH14016.

Ventinox® lining systems are tested and listed for use with TherMix masonry chimney insulation and ProFoil or FlexWrap ceramic blankets, when insulation around the flue liner is required.

ADDITIONAL EVALUATIONS In addition to Safety Testing as listed above, the following tests have been performed to evaluate the durability of Ventinox® liners:

2100 F Temperature Test at Cycle-Dyne. Ventinox® liner samples were fully annealed at 2100 F and showed no signs of deformation, cracking, spalling, changes in the welds or intergranular corrosion.

The TherMix chimney insulation was tested by W.R. Grace & Co. for thermal performance, strength and permeability.

ASTM A262 Corrosion resistance test was conducted on type 321 Stainless Steel used in the manufacture of Ventinox® by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
